The ever popular G3 Guide Wader now has an updated material lamination package with even more durable, breathable, and comfortable Gore-Tex Pro Shell 3-layer upper and 4-layer lower. The new 4-layer Gore-Tex has a broken in feel that isn't so stiff. An adjustable spacer air-mesh suspender system with a fabric suspender divider to disperse weight and top access zippered stretch pocket plus zippered, reach-through micro-fleece lined hand-warming chest pocket are key features in this G3 Guide Wader by Simms. A D-loop is included in the back of the suspenders for net attachment.
The upper organization also includes a removable Tippet-Tender Pocket with a button to keep the tippet tender pocket in place, and a stretch-woven flank pocket on the inside. Built-in low-profile back belt loops (no belt loops around the front) with high and low options and a 1.5 inch stretch nylon belt included are items that make this a quality fishing wader. After 2 1/2 years of development from our wader fly fishing team and the same abrasion resistance as the 5-layer modelare now made with the new GORE-TEX 4-layer Pro Shell river camo camouflage fabric in the seat and legs and a 3-layer Pro Shell in the upper. THE BEST WARRANTY IN THE WADER BUSINESS We stand behind our waders for the useful life of the product. This will vary based on use and the style of wader. For instance, professional guides will use their waders as work-wear every day and will likely wear out their waders faster than a casual angler who might sh 20 days per year. The Simms warranty does not cover damages caused by improper care, accidents, or the natural breakdown of materials over extended use and time. Waders that fail due to workmanship or material defect can be replaced or repaired. All defective or damaged products should be returned to Simms for evaluation and will be repaired or replaced at the discretion of Simms. 30 DAY EXCHANGE – NO QUESTIONS ASKED If a wader leaks within 30 days of purchase please replace them over the counter and we will send a replacement for your inventory. In order to obtain a pair of replacement waders from Simms, the Dealer must obtain a Return Authorization number using the Simms Online Repair Center making sure to note it is a 30-day exchange. Return shipping to Dealer will be covered by Simms. Please note that proof of original purchase is required. These are the waders by which all other waders should be judged. There are plenty of sizes to choose from to ensure you get a proper fit and they are incredibly tough. I have fished other high end waders and blown them out in two years. These are going on their fourth season and still look new!
I originally ordered the Patagonia Rio Gallegos but I just could not get a good fit with Patagonia's sizes. Jerri (Platte River Fly Shop) helped me with 2 exchanges. She was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I decided to go with the 2018 SIMMS G3 as I was familiar with the Simms sizing and fit. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The fit and feel of the wader is fantastic. I have no doubt they will perform well in the field. If your are coming from the previous G3 model I would say these have a slightly trimmer fit, not drastic enough to change size for me. I was a LK in the previous G3 as well as this 2018 model.
I am 5 foot 8in ~185lb and size medium fits great. I have been using a pair of old waders for some time now and I upgraded when I saw the sale price of the G3 camo. I love everything about Simm's and their warranty - plus they're made right here in the USA. I will be doing a lot of my business with this fly shop in the future. They're top notch professionals with impeccable service.
I have only had a chance to use the waders once since I purchased them. However, my last pair of Simms lasted 16 years and these look and feel every bit as good as the last pair. Sizing chart was super helpful and I found a pair that fit perfectly.
I bought these because the sale price was hard to ignore. Platte River was great to work with for this purchase. I don't think the "river camo" is going to win me any fashion shows, but I don't mind owning a new pair of G3s for under $400. :) I bought my first pair in 2018 and rode them fairly hard for two years. They're still leak proof below the knee, but seams above the knee are thinning and letting some water seep in. It's not anything terribly bad, but a full day on the water leads to a few damp spots on my pants when I'm done. I've gotten about 200 uses out of my first pair so I don't feel I should complain that much about the sudden failure of the seams. I plan to wear my "old" G3s in warmer spring/fall weather, and my new pair in cooler/colder temps to prolong the life of both. Just to be sure, I took these out to the river, waded in them for 15 minutes, and MADE SURE they didn't come with defects.
Awesome waders. Super light and comfortable. Can't wait to use them for the Lake Superior fall steelhead run.
I was shopping for new waders, but not over $400. I could not resist when I found these G3s for this incredible price. Immediately a done deal. Platte River was great to work with and delivery pretty quick. They even called to confirm shipping when they saw the billing address and shipping address were different.
These waders are awesome. The L (12-13) is true to size. The camo pattern is a cool design. Quality and finish is excellent!
I bought these waders before a trip to the Driftless Area in WI. These were an upgrade from the Freestone waders. The G3's are very light weight and durable. I was very unsure of the River Camo color option, but I think it really helped when fishing small streams, allowing me to be more stealthy when stalking trout on our spring creeks. Best pair of waders I've ever owned and worth the investment.
