Grey Reef Fishing Report May 2025
Posted by Liz Anderson on 18th May 2025
The Reef, the Reef, the Reef is on FIRE! We've had an exceptional spring on the N. Platte river. They just bumped the river to 2600 CFS and the water is clear, cold, and productive. We've been fortunate to have excellent nymph fishing and some solid streamer days. When the stars align we even get to throw a dry or two. Our top nymph patterns include: mayhem midges in black, gray, and purple, RS2's in black and grey, and the juju baetis in purple. We've also been fishing all variations of worms to include the squirmy, the red annelid, the hot head annie mostly in red and purple. Our favorite streamers now are the 2 Hook Johnny's in tan, black, rainbow, yellow, and olive, The fish whacker, thin mint, and the double gonga. If you're lucky enough to fish dries, try a purple parachute adams or the extended body BWO with a mayhem dropped off. Stop in the shop and we'll show you the goods!
