The Echo Trip is our answer to folks looking for an ultra-compact rod for backpacking, travel, or the backseat.  With a smooth blend of action and power these rods will handle all fishing conditions.  The Trip's 8-piece construction fits nicely into a backpack or briefcase for those "important meetings" you can miss.
The 8 weight is built for saltwater applications and comes with a blue blank.  The 5wt and 6wt come with a green blank.

    Echo Trip 5wt travel rod

    Purchased this rod to use on frequent business trips from CA to WA, OR and ID where I can sneak out for a short fishing session. Wanted a small rod to pack inside a case. This rod is perfect for what i wanted. Action is Med/Fast, casts well with dry and nymph set-ups. I really forget it is an 8 piece vs 4 piece rod. Use an older Ross CLA2 reel with an extra spool, one with floating, one with sinking line. With minimum gear I cover most fishing needs and everything packs easily in my hard luggage. I couldn't be happier with the Echo quality, definitely an excellent price to value ratio. Would not hesitate to recommend this as a great travel rod. Platte River Fly Shop has been great to deal with, excellent customer service.
